We made it to the New Year! Welcome back to hamjambo.com! We are happy to see you, and we look forward to moving through this year with you. Most of us if not all of us are setting our new year resolutions and goals. Setting them is the easy part, keeping them though is a whole different thing. Personally, I have very few goals to set this year, but top of my list is to stay alive. This 2023, we say wueh as we get up and move on. Science has proven that setting goals at the start of a new season is actually good because of the new energy and determination that comes with. A lot of people set their goals when the year starts, when they celebrate their birthdays, and others every Monday morning. Scientifically, it is easier to turn your failures around during this time. Technology yet again comes to our aid, our hero without a cap. Here are proven ways to set achievable goals. 1. Consider a Cash Penalty StickK.com and Beeminder.com invite you to put money on the line that you’ll have to forfeit to a charity if you don’t achieve a stated goal. You just have to name a referee and set the stakes via a Commitment Contract. If you sign your commitment contract with an accountability partner, your chances of achieving your set goals are higher by more than double. If you sign your agreement contract with financial stakes in play, your success chances will automatically go up five times more. No one wants to lose, especially money. To ensure that you are following your goals, set a reminder on all your devices, evaluate yourself every week- Sunday evenings are good, take notes of what you have already achieved and what you are yet to do, but most importantly, turn it into a fun activity. 2. Set an Intention Choose a word or two about what you want your 2023 to be like. Choose something that resonates well with you. Be intentional about what kind of year you want to experience. If you want to grow in any aspect this year, growth is the word that you are looking for. Then go on and classify the kind of growth you want, Financial Growth, Spiritual Growth, Emotional Growth, Family & Social Growth, or Intellectual Growth. 3. Give Your Goals Detail Instead of saying that you will read more books in 2023, say you will read one book every two weeks or one book every month. Give as much depth and detail to your goals as much as you can. This will help you stay in perspective. 4. Ground Yourself Make rules for yourself and follow them to the latter. Say, if you miss on doing your set goals, you will punish yourself by either missing on your favorite show or missing out on something that you really love. 5. Leave Room for Failure Do not be too uptight and so hard on yourself. Leave room for failure and setbacks. Be kind to yourself as you live through life, after all, we will not get out alive. The goal is to live a quality life and allowing for emergencies. May you have an intentional 2023, usikuwe yule msee wa bora uhai.
