Long Holiday? I Need a Smart Plan

The school long holidays are here, smack right at the beginning of the year. This is a first, well, we are used to having holidays at the end of the year, but it is a breather because the holidays in December lasted a little longer than a day.

I know holidays make for a good time for parents to bond with their children, but with work and everything else going on, it might be hard for the parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children at all times. Work can be overwhelming and kids can be a handful at times.

Besides shopping in bulk from wholesalers because, wait for it, your household consumption of everything is about to triple, you can also keep your kids busy by finding cool activities for them to engage in while you are at work. We both know that they will not do their homework or study 24/7, they will either watch too much TV, play too many video games, or do other things that you may not approve of. Unlike in the past when I grew up, we would be shipped to grandma a day after closing school and only be brought back a week to opening school. Things have however changed; I don’t see kids going upcountry as much.

Do you have a plan for the next two months? Don’t worry if you don’t, that is why Hamjambo.com is here, to hook you up with cool plans, that way everybody is happy. You are happy, the kids are happy and we are happy.

First things first, do you know your kids’ interests? You could be making your kid do coding or programming when their interest is in sports or music. Once you establish what makes their eyes light up with excitement, then it will be easier for you to have a plan for them for the holidays, well, besides studying and doing homework.

Here is what our resident guru recommended; over dinner or after dinner, as they narrate to you how their school term has been, have them write a list of things that they would want to do during this holiday. I know swimming will be top of the list but hey, you asked for it. Have them include time stamps on each activity, what they will likely need for the activities to be successful as well as what they intend to achieve at the end of the activities. Let them take charge, go through the list together and choose the most suitable for them.

  1. Coding

I recently came across online coding classes for kids, some sites teach for absolutely free. This is a good plan for your child, all you need is a laptop and good internet. Just remember to use parental restrictions on what your child consumes from the internet because it is a big dark wide web out there.

  • Programming.

Just like coding, there are sites that are offering free programming lessons to kids. Take advantage of these programs to enhance your child’s education. You will be amazed at how much free education is out here for our consumption.

  • Talent programs.

Check out talent lessons and programs around your area and enroll your children, it could be music lessons, sports lessons, or even baking classes.

The free sites will save you a coin in the end while earning your child much-needed knowledge. We have the tools that you may need, laptops and tablets at affordable prices.

Besides the free learning programs, create a timetable for your kids, they could do simple chores around the house like cleaning the utensils, taking out the trash, and cleaning up after themselves.

Remember, nothing screams bonding than doing fun things together. Create games that you can play together as a family, cook together, bake together, watch a movie together or go out as a family.

Whatever you do this holiday, stay safe.
